My photography education is this. One high school photography course like 20 years ago. The basics & that's it. Everything else is self-taught. I have only been shooting with a SLR camera for 9 months now.
I knew when I started shooting this would be the site where I posted my photos. When I was contemplating what subjects to shoot I surfed around DA looking for amazing photos. One of the first waterfall photos I saw was from a kid in Oregon who took this amazing blue water shot of Fairy Falls. That was it! I found what I wanted to shoot. Not only waterfalls but the blue water of waterfalls. Since there are so many waterfalls in Oregon. There are basically waterfall guru's. I consider myself to be one of these people now. I started asking one of these guys who is a friend of a friend. How to get these shots. With his help & plenty of practice of my own I figured it out. There is just a small window of time to capture the natural blue effect. So my goal was to figure out how I could get this effect any time of day. Guess what, I figured that out too.
There is a difference between a natural blue water shot & a lot of my photos.
Why am I telling all of you this. Because I want your opinions. Below I am going to give you the thumbnails for my natural blue water shots. After viewing these I would like all of you to compare these with some of my other blue water shots. Can you tell there is a difference? I would also like all of you to check out some of my shots where I have put up both the natural & blue shot. My new Spirit pictures or Lake Creek Falls would be good ones for you to look at. What I want to know about these photos is. Is the entire shot blue? Is the water just blue or is everything in the entire photo blue. I cannot tell because I am colorblind. I can tell my primary colors but once you start throwing shades at me. I am lost! Those tests they give you where you're supposed to see the number among all the shaded dots. I fail those miserably all the time.
I value all of your opinions. Which is why I am asking. I want to know if I should continue to take the blue shots my way or if I need to wait for that tiny window of time to catch the natural blue effect. Don't worry about how your comment will be taken. I am asking for this criticism. I am a big boy & can handle whatever you tell me.
I have also gone back & forth about giving out my secrets. No longer. If you would like to know how to get a natural blue water waterfall shot. You do not need a SLR camera. You can get this effect with a point & shoot as well. If you want to know how I take my natural & blue shots. Simply write me a note or comment on this journal telling me you want the info. I will send you the note template I have been working on which contains all the information. It would be far to long for a journal.
Thank you in advance for those of you who take the time out of your busy schedules to do this for me. I know I am asking a lot.
Here are my natural blue water shots.

No feature this week. I have rambled far to long. Instead here is a photo from one of my friends that was posted this week. It is simply stunning to me. Have a great week everyone!

Be who you are and say what you feel... Because those who matter don't mind and those who mind don't matter .
